Beagle Club
Nederland
The Beagle Club Nederland is a relatively new club; it was founded on 26 March 1994. In the beginning of 1997, the club registered its 1000th member. On 11 May 1995 the club recieved the provisional recognition of the Raad van Beheer op Kynologisch Gebied in Nederland (The Dutch Kennel Club). In the meeting of the board of the Dutch Kennel Cub (Raad van Beheer) on 1 october 1998 they decided to recognize the Beagle Club Nederland as an official breed club, which means that the club is now an official breed club.
What does the club do?
The main task of a breed club is to represent the interests of the breed and to improve its quality. This is achieved by organising young dog events, clubshows and seminars about the breed.
Beagle walks
The club tries to improve the contacts between Beagle owners. One important way to do this is by organising regular walks through the woods on the moorlands or along the beach. These are good opportunities to meet other beagle owners.
Family day
A family day is organised each year. This event is for the entire family, including the Beagles. Besides some serious matters, like ringtraining, there is a lot of games (Beagle race, coursing and agility). This is another opportunity to meet other Beagle owners in an unconstrained atmosphere.
De Beagle Bode
The Dutch Beagle Club publishs a magazine four times per year. In addition to announcements by the committee, there is a lot of information about the breed and dogs in general, such as feeding and health care. There is also the opportunity for members to share their experiences with other members.
Puppy information desk
Through the puppy-information desk breeders, interested in selling a puppy, and people interested in buying a puppy can be put in contact with each other. People who are interested in buying a puppy are placed on a list. The applicant will be informed as soon as a breeder announces that puppies are available.
Help desk
The help desk assists members in case of problems with the Beagle such as health or training.
Beagle Boutique
Many items about Beagles, like kennels, books, sculptures, and ornaments, as well as hats and stickers with the emblem of the Dutch Beagle Club are for sale in the Beagle Boutique. The Beagle Boutique is present at club activities so members can buy items, but there is also a possibility to order by mail.
Pedigree-service
The Beagle Club has een computer-file with all Beagles born in The Netherlands and all imported Beagles in it. Also the ancestors of the imported Beagles are in the file as far as possible. The file contains at the moment the data of over 12000 Beagles. With this we are sometimes able to construct pedigrees up to 9 generations. How to apply for membership?
One can join the Dutch Beagle Club by sending in the application form and payment for the subscription and entrance fee. The subscription for foreign members is € 27,50 per year. The (one-time) entrance fee is € 5,00. If one applies for membership after the 1st of July only half the subscription is required on condition one also pays the full subscription for the next year. A copy of the last edition of the club magazine will be sent after the subscription is received.
